The Sporange is a skin contact Sauvignon Blanc and it does exactly what it says on the tin. This is awesome. Apricot, blood orange and lemons leap from the glass with that classic, green, asparagus varietal character in the background. This is gastronomic and complex. Sensational.
Domaine Blanc Plume is an impressive outfit situated in the Côtes Catalanes area of southern France. A producer of fine natural wine, the team here farms according to biodynamic principles, adopting the mantra that 'we only occupy our children's land for a short time, so it is up to us to take good care of it'. Naturally, with a big focus on biodiversity, you will find over 47 different species of birds across the estate alongside a rich array of teeming wildlife among their old vines (up to 80 years old). Syrah, Carignan, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Grenache are all planted here, as well as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc white varieties. Head winemaker Raphaël Colin favours natural fermentations with wild, indigenous yeasts, mostly carried out in clay amphora to preserve as much primal fruit in his wines as possible. The team gained the prestigious Demeter certification in 2020, the industry's most coveted biodynamic club.
