Tasting note
Vibrant coloured the nose has a purity of fresh red cherry and a fresh minerality that beguile. The palate is lifted and fresh, with sweet red fruits, a hint of spiciness and a sensation of wet slate. Beautiful tannins and acidity.
Our thoughts
Despite being the result of a single year’s harvest, this red is officially released as a non-vintage, since the two friends who joined forces to create Bakkanali didn’t want to the wine to be lumped in with the overall reputation of Tuscan vintages. Such perceptions often revolve largely around the qualities of the year’s Brunello and Chianti, while the site Sebastian Nasello (winemaker at Podere Le Ripi) and Ugo Fabbri chose, on the more wild, volcanic slopes of Mount Amiata, has its own very distinct microclimate. Here, that yields a pure, creamy raspberry-and-rose-petal vibe with ultra-fine tannins.
